Samuel House

Project:
On a beautiful rural site with 500 metres of Murrumbidgee River frontage, this new residence is both refined and robust in its architectural expression.

On the eastern, entry side, an articulated blockwork façade creates a refined place for human occupation on the side of the exposed river valley. The 40 metre long entry façade parallels the site contours and an entry forecourt, garden and outdoor living space are gently carved out of the slope.

The Samuel House continues the practice’s exploration of Modernist ideologies and the production of architecture of poetic functionalism. Grounded yet light the house hovers above the river.
